Dog Days of Summer Bulletin Board Ideas for the End of the Year or Back to School

Looking for a fun bulletin board that gets students writing while creating an adorable classroom display?

This dog-themed bulletin board works beautifully at the end of the school year, during summer school, or during the first weeks of school. Students create an adorable dog craft, personalize it with fun sunglasses, and complete a writing activity about their summer plans, favorite summer activities, or summer memories.

I may be a little biased because I’m a huge dog lover (I have two adorable beagles!), but this has always been one of my favorite summer bulletin boards.

There are multiple options from which to choose.

Choose Your Dog and Sunglasses

I’m a big fan of giving students choices. Students love being able to choose from 4 different dog patterns and sunglasses options. Allowing them to mix and match both the dogs and the sunglasses makes each dog unique for a doggone adorable display!

Choose Your Writing Prompt

There are 2 writing prompts from which to choose.

The “During the summer I like to” sentence starter can be used for the end of the school year, during summer school, or summer camp programs.  The students write activities that they like to do during the summer months on the bone (they can also illustrate the sentence if desired).

If you are in a time crunch or just wish students to focus on the writing, use the full-color dog patterns.

I also included a “This summer I” sentence starter that can be used for the beginning of the school year, the end of summer school, or summer camp programs, etc.  The students write activities that they did during the summer months on the bone (they can also illustrate the sentence if desired) OR students can write their goals for the summer and the display can be used at the end of the school year or beginning of summer school.

Choose a Bulletin Board Title

There are several different bulletin board titles, depending on what time of year you display your dog writing crafts.
