This Pumpkin Practice Center will have your students “pumped” for number and counting practice! It is the perfect addition to your fall (autumn), Halloween, or Thanksgiving curriculum and a fun hands-on and interactive math center.
Cut out the numbered pumpkins. Laminate for durability if desired. Place the pumpkins and a long piece of thick green yarn at the center (ribbon can also be used). Students visit the pumpkin patch and lay the yarn on the ground to resemble a vine then place the pumpkins in order from 1-20 on the vine. Next, they pick or “harvest” the pumpkins, shuffle them, and place them on the vine in reverse order. For skip counting practice students place the pumpkins on the vine by fives to 100.
Blank pumpkins are also provided for additional math practice such as counting to higher numbers, skip counting by 2s, using them as manipulatives for addition and subtraction practice, etc. They can also be used as a literacy center. Label the pumpkins with letters for alphabetical order practice, spelling CVC words, etc. The possibilities are endless!
Reproducible pages are also provided to check students’ understanding. Pumpkins are labeled with numbers in a pumpkin patch and students must write the missing numbers (number order). A blank pumpkin patch reproducible is also provided for you to customize to your needs. There is also a page with pumpkins labeled 1-100 for students to show their understanding of skip counting (they color the pumpkins by 2s, 5s, or 10s).
You receive colored pumpkins labeled 1-20 and by 5s to 100 along with blank pumpkins to customize.
A reproducible page for students to fill in the missing numbers (1-10 and 11-20).
