As a teacher of young students, holidays usually involve some sort of celebration at school. I always like to give my students a little something extra during these special events. There is just something special about celebrating Valentine’s Day with young children – the excitement of giving and receiving special valentines, all the talk about love, kindness, and friendship, and just the overall wonderful feeling of having an extra special day to celebrate your love for them. This is why I like to add an extra touch to my student Valentine’s Day gifts.
I like the students to feel special and that their gift was truly from the heart so I don’t give the same gift from year to year or from class to class – I like to “mix it up” each year! Is it any wonder with O’Block being my last name that I love St. Patrick’s Day? LOL! Celebrating it with young children makes it extra special because I get to experience the excitement and wonder in their eyes when they see all of the hijinks that the tricky little leprechaun plays on us and how things “magically” turn green!
